School of Rock

Jack Black has become one of the premier funnymen in the film industry, letting us enjoy his humorous antics in movies such as Shallow Hal, Saving Silverman and High Fidelity. Before we knew him on the big screen, Jack was pumping out rocking tunes with a comic edge as part of the band Tenacious D. So what happens when he decides to combine the two? You get pure gold.

Jack plays a rocker who has dreams of making it big. Unfortunately he gets kicked out of his band and his roommate's bitchy girlfriend tries to get him kicked out of the apartment unless he gets a job to pay the rent he owes them. Through chance, he lands a job posing as his teacher roomie subbing at a private elementary school. There he has trouble teaching the kids about the ABCs so after learning of some of their musical talents, decides to teach them about rock and roll so he can use them to win the upcoming battle of the bands. He teaches them about music, but they teach him a little something about a direction in life.

A great comedy for the whole family, the movie showcases Jack's incredible abilities for comedy and music and never gets too crude or rude for younger audiences. The movie also features a kicking soundtrack of classic rock and the dvd comes packed with extra features.

It's a funny movie that will have you laughing and smirking as Jack bumbles his way through teaching but it leaves you happy inside and you'll be humming some tunes as you walk away from it satisfied. Check it out.
