| Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle Every so often there comes along a movie with a plot that's so simple it's brilliant. This is one of those movies. You can't get any more basic than two stoners who just want to score some food to eat to make their munchies subside. Throw in a romantic interest and a few colorful protagonists and you have the movie of the year. Harold and Kumar are extremely likeable and have a great array of adventures ranging from extreme assholes, being arrested and taco eating English girls to name a few. There's also a cheetah, and they kick ass. The cast is well done with many a cameo by recognizable stars that add to the story and fun, including a great supporting role by Neil Patrick Harris of that show you all know and hate. The film is done by the same guy who did Dude, Where's My Car? and it shows in a good way since it carries over the genuinely funny moment that the movie had so many of. A lot of people might be turned off by the drug humor and crudeness of it all but I like those sort of films so I recommend this to everyone. It's great seeing a tour across New Jersey take such a weird and wacky turn even though it seems that every place is 45 minutes from Hoboken and some of the locations seem out of place. It's a night from hell type of movie so that kind of coincidence is forgiving, the same with seeing a lot of the same people again and again. It just wouldn't be any fun without it. Go see this movie and support the zany comedy and get yourself some White Castle afterwards to quell your hunger that the hour and a half commercial will instill in you. Just remember that there's a White Castle in Eatontown; Harold and Kumar didn't and they went through all sorts of hell to get to it when they only had to go 20 minutes down the road. |
