Drive

This is one of those movies that you've probably never heard about but should really see. The story goes like this, Mark Dacascos is on the run from his former bosses because he's trying to sell the chip that was grafted on his heart for big cash and because his bosses are evil. Along the way he encounters Kadeem Hardison who's a wise cracking aspiring song writer and together they have to fight to stay alive and become friends along the way.

Drive pre-dates the kung-fu buddy flick Rush Hour by a year or so and it pretty much pisses all over it. The stunts are fantastic, the fights are well choreographed and the humor isn't thrown in your face. You can genuinely get a laugh and a thrill from the movie and you care about the leads as well. Even the villains are overflowing with charisma and character, making it even more enjoyable to watch them get stomped by Dacascos' high flying fighting style.

An added bonus to the film is Brittany Murphy in probably her greatest role ever as a hyperactive and horny motel owner who befriends the duo in the middle of the movie. She easily walks away with every scene she has and gives a fun performance.

I picked up the Region 2 special edition director's cut which added a few minutes but Drive is available in the US in a truncated form. It may look like just another straight to video actioner, but this movie will rock your world. Check it out.
