| Zebrahead - MFZB I first heard of Zebrahead from a friend and ran out and bought their Playmate of the Year album. It was a solid record and a great listen, staying in rotation among my cds for a long time. I saw this new album in the store and picked it up as an impulse buy and I'm not disappointed in the least. If you've never heard them, the best way I can describe their sound is Bodycount meets Less Than Jake. They play everything from punk to hardcore and do it well and with gusto. Their rhymes and singing are tight and well done and the tunes are catchy, staying in your head for hours after the initial listen. This album features the single "Rescue Me" and is fantastic. It sounds like there's influence from various sources, notably some Bad Religion and Slayer. It's a good mix and you can hear the tracks on which these show through early on. You'll be moving and grooving to the beat and driving along to some of the best punk to come out of the studio recently. Run out and get what is easily the best new album of the year. |
