| Big Fish Tim Burton is one of those directors that never ceases to amaze me. He continually turns out wonderfully creative and quirky films, Planet of the Apes excluded. Big Fish continues his trend of good and thought provoking films. The film is a heartwarming tale of a son (Billy Crudup) who is trying to find out the details of his father's (Albert Finney) past through the tall tales that the man has been told all his life. We witness the father, who's name is Ed Bloom, as his lives his life in varying stages, including his birth, the meeting of his bride-to-be and the strange characters that accompany him along the way. As the son delves deeper into the past, he realizes that the truth may not be what it seems and we all have a bit of a the fantastic in us. Everything about this film is top notch, from the acting and story to the directing and special effects. Watching this movie is like watching a daydream or a tall tale unfold in front of you and never leaves you bored but always wanting more of the life of Edward Bloom. If you like great movies then experience a fantastic one and check it out. |
