| Battlefield Baseball What do you get when you combine the special attacks of anime characters with a world favorite pastime? This movie, of course. Seido High wants to be the best baseball team around. The only problem is, they have to go through Gedo High, a zombified gang of hard-edge thugs, to do it. Fortunately, Seido High just got a new weapon in the form of transfer student Jubeh, who has done prison time and wanders from school to school with a killer pitch. With his help, will Seido High be able to win and become the best of the high schools? You’ll have to watch it to find out. Featuring crazy fight scenes and a death by baseball, Battlefield Baseball is a great foray into the world of horror comedy from Japan and just oozes with style. It should come as no surprise that Ryuhei Kitamura (Versus) helped produce this bad boy. The budget is low and it shows, but you won’t be caring while you’re laughing your ass off at the antics of the Gedo High team and the steps Seido High takes to stay alive. The movie is a send-up of all sports movies and fighting movies, introducing characters hysterically and offering plenty visual gags for the viewer to marvel at. If you’re a fan of comedy and even of baseball, check this film out. You won’t be disappointed. |
