Portrait of Ruined Load Bearing Boss

Just beat Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin today. Man, Dracula was a chump once I had my pattern down. Greatest 5 for the win. That thing just does some awesome damage and then you can basically spam it if you keep dropping potions like science. Great game. Check it out if you have a DS. Honest. It's awesome.

Bad Poetry in Bad Times

“That I May Serve”

That I may serve against the agents of twilight,
a guiding hand through the dim lands of forever.
That I may serve, a beacon in the place without light,
in a time where the shadows threaten to fall.
That I may serve, helping the helpless and those in need,
a voice of reason in trying times.
That I may serve, a shoulder of support in times of grim hope
when tears flow freely in the face of the greatest provocation.
That I may serve, with love, with honor, in defense of the land I called home
through many a year, learning the things that would make me the man I am today.
That I may serve, in the cause of family and friends and those that share my adopted home,
fighting to the last those that threaten to hurt or destroy my brethren, falling only when the job is completely done.
That I may serve and stop the horror already visited upon us, fighting time and tide to make it right again.
That I may serve so that it never happens again.

Horrible, Simply Horrible

There's no real word for the emotions that are going through everyone's head today. 33 dead at least in Viriginia Tech in the most horrifying massacre to ever sweep through a school. There's no reason it should have happened save that some people are just sick fucks and instead of doing themselves away with decently, they have to try and make a mark and take out innocents with them. If the gunman wasn't dead already, I would hope that he died a most horrible death. As it is, I can only hope that some special hell is reserved for him and torments him the way the families of the departed must be feeling right now.

It's a shame that things like this have to happen in the world, much less at my alma mater. My condolences go out to those who have lost loved ones and if you're a friend of mine down there and haven't checked in yet, please do so.

MC Fun

Just got back from the MC Lars and MC Frontalot show at Maxwell's in Hoboken. Well, not really just back, but I had stayed over so I didn't get home till this morning. It was an awesome show, as usual. Both MCs are uber-nice and happy to talk to fans and hawk their wares, but they're in it for the music for reals. Go see them if you get the chance. Nerdcore WILL rise up.

Black Thursday Rule

Sad day today. I found out that film legend Bob Clark died with his son as the result of an accident involving a drunk driver. Clark is best known for A Christmas Story and possibly Porky's, but to the genre fans, I'll always like his horror work best, with groundbreaking and truly terrifying films like Black Christmas and Deathdream. My condolences go out to the family of the deceased and I raise my glass to them somberly in hopes that they are in a better place and that their killer gets his due.
